Tick Criteria
Tick nutrition standards (criteria) are trans-Tasman standards and set in line with public health priorities, government strategies and Heart Foundation nutrition policies.
The Tick nutrition standards are set by the Food Information Programme Criteria Working Group, a panel of nutrition experts, including dietitians and academics from Australia and New Zealand, who meet regularly to develop and review the criteria.
Tick nutrition standards aim to:
- Decrease potentially harmful nutrients - saturated fat, trans fat, sodium
- Increase positive nutrients - dietary fibre and calcium
- Limit energy (kilojoules) in many categories
