Tick Everyday and Occasional Foods
The Tick signposts healthier choices in more than 50 types of food, from foods that can be eaten everyday, such as bread, milk and lean meat, to foods that should be eaten occasionally and limited in your diet.
To make a real difference to the health of New Zealanders the Tick needs to be on popular foods like meat pies, chicken nuggets and ice cream so a healthier choice is available.
To help you include Tick products as part of a balanced and varied diet the Tick Shopping List (link) is categorised into everyday and occasional foods. We recommend you mostly eat Tick everyday foods. Tick occasional foods should be limited in your diet.
Tick occasional foods make up less than 9% of products on the Tick Programme. The majority of Tick products can be eaten everyday. Click the occasional food category list below for product details.
Tick Occasional Food Categories
Tick occasional foods were categorised by an independent panel of nutrition experts and are based on sound nutritional science.
